The General Assembly, chaired by the current EUREL President Prof. Dr. Berhard Jokoby (OVE - Austrian Electrotechnical Association), unanimously expressed its confidence in Dr. Daniel Costianu. He will take over the office of EUREL President in autumn 2025 from Emil Koifman (SEEEI - The Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel). Dr. Costianu’s presidency of Romanian AIEE will mean that the 2026 EUREL General Assembly will be held in Romania.
In the person of Dr. Daniel Costianu (39 years old), an engineer who can proudly be described as an EUREL home-grown player will take over the EUREL presidency in 2025/26. He first came into contact with EUREL back in 2011 during his Master's degree in Power Engineering. His entry into the world of European electrical engineers at EUREL was through his participation in the EUREL International Management Cup - IMC, which will be held for the 18th time next year.
Over the years, Dr. Daniel Costianu has always been closely associated with EUREL and has taken part - several times - in the annual international activities that EUREL offers for young European electrical engineers. He was Vice-Chairman of the Young Engineers Panel, EUREL's young engineers' organization, for two years and then Chairman for one year. For his home association in Romania, Dr. Costianu was responsible for the overall planning of the EUREL Field Trips in 2015 and 2023. Finally, he is a founder and board member of the Association of Energy and Electrical Engineers of Romania (AIEE).
Professionally, Dr. Costianu works as a Project Manager for Siemens Energy Romania and has 18 years of experience in projects in the energy sector for conventional and renewable power generation plants, transport and distribution of electrical energy in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
Dr. Daniel Costianu: "I am pleased that someone who joined EUREL's activities as a student in 2011 and has been constantly committed to the interests of Europe's young electrical engineers has now been elected to the highest representative position at EUREL. This is a very great appreciation of my work and a motivation for the young members of each EUREL member association, who see that consistent passion and commitment can bring someone to the top."
