EUREL welcomes new Members from Spain and Romania

Europe and the entire world are facing significant energy, climate and security policy challenges. Electrical, Electronic and Information Technology Engineers can and must make an important contribution to stability in Europe with their know-how. The Convention of National Associations of Electrical Engineers of Europe (EUREL) is challenged to advance technological solutions for the benefit of the people and to support our democratically elected politicians – all across Europe.

EUREL establishes the framework for stability in Europe

The first is to connect Electrical, Electronic and Information Technology Engineers from young to old across Europe and beyond. The organization facilitates an inspiring exchange and contributes specifically to sharing important approaches to solutions. Furthermore, EUREL provides know-how and knowledge. The focus is especially on politics and authorities in Brussels. The expertise of the EUREL network can also be used in the member countries. We want to contribute to ensuring that political decisions are based on the latest facts and findings and that important technological topics receive the appropriate attention in politics and society.

In order for the idea of the European Network of Electrical, Electronic and Information Technology Engineers to continue to grow, we are very pleased to announce that  two new members joined EUREL: A warm welcome to our new members General Council of Official Chambers of Industrial Engineers (Spain) and the Association of Energy and Electrical Engineers - AIEE (Romania).

General Council of Official Chambers of Industrial Engineers (IE - Spain)

In Summer 2022 EUREL President Carlos Loureiro (Portugal), EUREL Chairman Board of Directors Markus B. Jaeger (Germany) and EUREL Chairman Executive Committee Jorge Lica (Portugal) met César Franco Ramos and Juan Blanco from General Council of Official Chambers of Industrial Engineers (IE) in Madrid. Beforehand, Carlos Loureiro and Jorge Lica had already held in-depth preliminary talks with the neighbors from Spain. The personal meeting in Madrid was therefore well prepared.

With the General Council of the Official Chambers of Industrial Engineers, a strong voice with more than 43,000 registered professionals and around 100,000 industrial engineers from Spain joins the EUREL family. The General Council of the Official Chambers of Industrial Engineers defends the interests of the Spanish citizens by ensuring the correct exercise of the profession as well as to maintain the prestige and influence the Industrial Engineering degree has had on the progress of society. On top of that, their goal is to promote the leadership of Industrial Engineers as one of the most qualified professionals to develop positions and functions in different sectors.

The General Council of the Official Chambers of Industrial Engineers is a perfect new fit for EUREL.

Association of Energy and Electrical Engineers (AIEE – Romania)

The Board Members of the Association of Energy and Electrical Engineers (AIEE) have known EUREL for a long time, as they were always highly active in previous EUREL activities. A few months ago, the newly formed independent association invited EUREL Chairman Board of Directors Markus B. Jaeger to Bucharest for a personal meeting to talk about a common future. The other main topic was undoubtedly the acute and upcoming shortage of skilled workers in the various fields of technology. That is exactly one of the main activities AIEE stands for.

Purpose of AIEE is to increase the role of engineers in the energy and electrical field, to develop and modernize the energy system, as pillar for economic development. A further goal is to solidify the collaboration with university centers and educational institutions in the energy and electrical field. AIEE strives to provide professional training activities and courses for specialists as well as of organizing expert events and cultural, sports and tourism activities, too.

The Association of Energy and Electrical Engineers (AIEE) has important connections in the tech scene. The EUREL family is extremely excited to be part of strengthening relations globally and welcomes AIEE, now officially member. EUREL looks forward to joint work, since a technologically united Europe is an absolute necessity. Only together we can master key issues and establish the framework for stability in Europe.
