After weeks of demanding simulation rounds and strategic decision-making, the final ranking of the EUREL TOPSIM IMC 2026 was:

  1. ŠD3 - Team from EZS, Slovenia
  2. Dunder Mifflin Copier Company - Team from VDE , Germany
  3. KN BIT - Team from SEP, Poland

The TOPSIM IMC continues to serve as one of EUREL’s flagship educational initiatives, providing young engineers and young professionals under the age of 36 years with a unique opportunity to apply technical knowledge in realistic business environments. Participants were required to manage virtual companies, balancing innovation, financial performance, marketing strategies, production planning, and human resource management under rapidly changing market conditions. And to put it in the words of the team of EZS, Slovenia: "We entered as underdogs on a side quest, but the simulation quickly turned it into a mission." - Congrats!

Adaptability and Strategic Thinking at the Core

The German team from VDE highlighted how the competition challenged participants to react dynamically to market developments:

“The IMC is an excellent platform for testing strategic thinking under realistic conditions. It showed us the importance of making fast, well-informed decisions and was an enriching experience that helped us grow both professionally and personally.”

Reflecting on their strategic journey, the team explained how flexibility became the key to success:

“We set out thinking we’d be a premium player but pretty quickly realized the real opportunity was on the budget side. So we pivoted, scaled up production, and leaned into volume. It was a great reminder that success often comes down to how fast you adapt to what the market is actually telling you.”

Their strong analytical performance and agile decision-making secured an impressive second place overall.

Poland’s Team KN BIT Achieves European Podium Finish

An also remarkable achievement came from the Polish team representing SEP. The joint Szczecin-based team KN BIT secured third place after an outstanding final round held on 18–19 April 2026.

The team brought together in total four students and researchers from the Maritime University of Szczecin and the University of Szczecin, combining expertise in computer science, telecommunications, economics, and management. Their achievement reflected not only strong technical and economic understanding, but also excellent leadership and data-driven management capabilities.

“The future of the ICT industry belongs to those who can navigate data as skillfully as they lead people. Team KN BIT demonstrated exactly that, securing 3rd place in Europe through consistent growth and bold strategic moves.”

Throughout the finals, the team managed a virtual enterprise while optimizing marketing strategy and product life cycle planning, financial management and profitability analysis as well as human resource planning and operational efficiency. Particularly noteworthy was the team’s steady growth in company value throughout the simulation. During the decisive final periods, the Polish team implemented key strategic decisions that secured their place among Europe’s top-performing teams.

Looking ahead to Brussels

In recognition of their outstanding performance, the winning teams received financial awards and invitations to the European Future Technology Summit (EFTS), which will take place in Brussels from 2–4 September 2026. The official ceremony will be held during the VDE Summer Reception.

Building Europe’s Future Engineering Leaders

The EUREL TOPSIM IMC continues to demonstrate the importance of interdisciplinary skills in modern engineering careers. Beyond technical excellence, the competition encourages participants to think strategically, work collaboratively, and make informed decisions in complex environments.

On behalf of EUREL, we warmly congratulate all participating teams for their dedication, and exceptional achievements throughout TOPSIM IMC 2026 on their performances.
